Mechanism Lubrication, EAL Bio-Grease & Corrosion Protection

Freeman Marine's patented multi-dog mechanism relies on synchronized dogging arms, roller cams, and central drive spindles. When seawater enters and dries, harsh salt crystals quickly grind down bushings and link arms unless high-film-strength lubricants are maintained. Here you will find Vickers Oils high-performance biodegradable lubricants, combining extreme water-washout resistance and load-carrying capacity with full compliance under international environmental mandates (US EPA VGP / EU Ecolabel).

Critical mechanism lubrication & service guidelines:

1. Penetrating Moisture Displacer

For stiff handles or salt encrustation: apply Vickerlube Bio WDF around the spindle sleeve and pivot linkages to displace moisture and free locked mechanisms.

2. Dogs & Wedge Cams

Pack sliding dogs and coaming wedges with BIOGREASE EP2. Withstands extreme mechanical shock loads and resists wash-off from green water and deck washdowns.

3. Spindle Sleeve & Bushings

Purge fresh marine grease into grease fittings and shaft penetrations every 6 months (SOLAS) to prevent crevice corrosion between stainless shafts and cast aluminum.

Environmental Regulations (VGP / EAL): Vickers Oils marine products are certified Environmentally Acceptable Lubricants (EAL) compliant with US EPA VGP and EU Ecolabel standards. Fully biodegradable (>60% under OECD 301B), non-bioaccumulative, and safe for marine ecosystems during routine open-deck washdowns.
