Maintenance Guide: 4 Steps to Extended Lifespan
By following Freeman’s recommended service procedures, watertight integrity and smooth mechanical operation are preserved even in harsh sea environments.
Wash & Deoxidation
Rinse away salt deposits using fresh water and mild soap (pH 6–8). Remove stubborn marine oxidation with acid-free aluminum cleaner and a non-metallic scrub pad.
Gasket Inspection
Inspect neoprene seals for hardening, tears, or compression set. Clean the channel thoroughly and use approved contact adhesive when replacing. Protect against freeze adhesion.
Mechanism & Grease
Lubricate dogs, linkages, and central spindle with biodegradable marine grease (Vickers EP2). Penetrating bio-spray frees stiff or salt-encrusted pivot joints.
Coaming & Anti-Seize
Inspect coaming knife-edges and scuppers. For bolted installations, always coat stainless fasteners with ceramic anti-seize paste to eliminate galvanic pitting completely.
