The Freeman Marine Model 18K (2405 Series) is a rugged, field-proven round deck hatch featuring an 18-inch (457 mm) clear opening and classic knife-edge sealing technology. As the trusted industry standard across commercial shipping and heavy workboats, knife-edge hatches utilize a machined coaming knife edge that bites firmly into a resilient hollow neoprene gasket housed in the cover plate. This design concentrates dogging force into high contact pressure, ensuring 100% weathertight and watertight integrity even under severe deck wash and hydrostatic heads.
Engineered for flush deck mounting, the Model 18K features a fully removable lift-out cover plate, offering completely unobstructed clearance for personnel access and gear transfer. Because the gasket is recessed inside the cover plate, it remains well protected from impact damage during cargo handling and deck operations when open.
