The Freeman Marine Model 3036K (2429 Series) is an extra-large, ultra-heavy-duty rectangular deck hatch featuring an impressive 30" x 36" (762 x 914 mm) clear opening and field-proven knife-edge sealing technology. With its expansive aperture, it provides the ultimate access solution for engine rooms, cargo holds, machinery removal, and pump service, while serving as a spacious emergency escape trunk for personnel in full gear.
Freeman's commercial knife-edge design concentrates dogging closure force along a machined coaming knife edge against a resilient hollow gasket housed inside the cover plate. This creates an uncompromising 100% watertight and weathertight seal capable of resisting extreme hydrostatic heads and heavy green water deck wash. The lift-out cover plate can be completely removed to provide an entirely unobstructed 30" x 36" opening for crane lifts and heavy equipment transfer. Because the gasket is recessed within the cover plate channel, it remains fully protected from mechanical damage and dropped tools when the hatch is open.
