The Freeman Marine Model 2428K (2436 Series) is a heavy-duty rectangular deck hatch featuring an expansive 24" x 28" (610 x 711 mm) clear opening and time-proven knife-edge sealing technology. With its generous dimensions, this model provides comfortable clearance for personnel in heavy work gear, machinery component handling, and emergency escape access.
The commercial knife-edge design concentrates dogging closure force along a machined coaming knife edge against a resilient hollow gasket housed inside the cover plate. This establishes an uncompromising 100% watertight and weathertight barrier capable of withstanding extreme hydrostatic pressure and continuous deck washdown. Designed for flush deck mounting, the Model 2428K includes a fully removable lift-out cover plate, offering completely unobstructed clearance. Because the gasket is recessed within the cover plate, it remains fully protected from mechanical impact and heavy foot traffic when the hatch is open.
