The Freeman Marine Model 1824K (2421 Series) is a rugged, field-proven rectangular deck hatch featuring an 18" x 24" (457 x 610 mm) clear opening and time-tested knife-edge sealing technology. The rectangular profile is widely favored across commercial fishing and workboat fleets, providing practical clearance for crew access, gear handling, and service operations while fitting neatly between deck framing members.
Freeman's commercial knife-edge design concentrates dogging closure force along a machined coaming knife edge against a resilient hollow gasket housed inside the cover plate. This establishes an uncompromising 100% watertight and weathertight seal capable of resisting extreme hydrostatic heads and heavy deck wash on commercial vessels. Engineered for flush deck mounting, the Model 1824K features a fully removable lift-out cover plate, offering completely unobstructed clearance. Because the gasket is recessed within the cover plate channel, it remains shielded from impact damage and abrasive foot traffic when the hatch is open.
