The Freeman Marine Model 2020-HK (2462 Series) is a rugged, heavy-duty hinged square deck hatch featuring a 20" x 20" (508 x 508 mm) clear opening and time-proven knife-edge sealing technology. Designed for flush deck mounting, it blends smoothly into deck surfaces, eliminating tripping hazards and facilitating seamless deck operations.
The heavy-duty integrated hinge keeps the cover plate securely captive to the coaming, ensuring safe and controlled operation in rough seas while preventing deck damage or accidental cover loss overboard. The hatch utilizes Freeman's proven knife-edge sealing system, where a precision coaming knife edge concentrates dogging force into a resilient hollow neoprene gasket recessed in the cover plate. This creates a 100% watertight and weathertight barrier capable of withstanding heavy breaking seas and high hydrostatic loads. Recessed within the cover plate channel, the gasket is shielded from cargo impact and foot traffic when open.
