The Freeman Marine Model 1824-HK (2461 Series) is a rugged, commercial-grade hinged rectangular deck hatch featuring an 18" x 24" (457 x 610 mm) clear opening and time-proven knife-edge sealing technology. Combining practical rectangular clearance with captive hinged operation, it provides safe, reliable passage for crew and equipment across commercial workboats, patrol vessels, and offshore craft.
The heavy-duty integrated hinge keeps the cover plate safely secured to the deck ring when open, eliminating the hazards of uncontrolled swinging in rough seas, deck surface damage, or accidental overboard loss. Freeman's knife-edge design concentrates dogging closure force along a machined coaming knife edge against a resilient hollow gasket housed inside the cover plate. This establishes an uncompromising 100% watertight and weathertight barrier capable of resisting extreme hydrostatic heads and heavy deck washdown. Recessed within the cover plate channel, the seal remains fully protected against mechanical impact and foot traffic during deck operations.
