The Freeman Marine Model 1524-HK (2474 Series) is a rugged, commercial-grade hinged oval deck hatch featuring a 15" x 24" (381 x 610 mm) clear opening and field-proven knife-edge sealing technology. As an established industry standard for marine oval manholes, it enables comfortable crew entry and equipment servicing while aligning efficiently with longitudinal deck framing.
The heavy-duty integrated hinge keeps the cover plate captive and safely positioned during opening, preventing deck damage, accidental closure in rough sea conditions, or loss overboard. Freeman's knife-edge design concentrates dogging closure force along a machined coaming knife edge against a resilient hollow gasket housed inside the cover plate. This establishes an uncompromising 100% watertight and weathertight barrier capable of withstanding extreme hydrostatic pressures and continuous green water deck washdown. The recessed gasket in the cover plate remains shielded from mechanical impact and abrasion when the hatch is open.
