The Freeman Marine Model 1524-H (2473 Series) is a rugged, heavy-duty hinged oval deck hatch featuring a 15" x 24" (381 x 610 mm) clear opening. Widely regarded as a premier marine standard for oval personnel access, it allows comfortable crew and equipment entry while optimizing deck space between structural framing. Designed for true flush mounting, it integrates smoothly into the deck surface, preventing tripping hazards and eliminating standing water or debris accumulation around the coaming.
The heavy-duty integrated hinge secures the cover plate directly to the coaming ring, ensuring safe handling in rough sea conditions and preventing accidental loss overboard or deck damage. Featuring Freeman's field-proven compression sealing technology, a resilient gasket fitted in the coaming groove seals tightly and 100% watertight against the flat machined underside of the cover plate. Unlike knife-edge hatches, compression seal hatches do not require external coaming drain tubes and resist impact damage during demanding deck operations.
