Welcome to Bövik Marin AB – authorized supplier of genuine marine-grade stainless steel deck coamings and weld-in rings for Freeman Marine cast deck hatches. Our stainless steel coamings are engineered for bespoke luxury yachts, research vessels, chemical tankers, and specialized marine structures demanding maximum corrosion resistance and premium aesthetics.
Manufactured from premium marine-grade stainless steel (AISI 316L / EN 1.4404), these weld-in coamings are intended for direct full-penetration welding into stainless steel decks and superstructures. The ring provides a permanent, rigid, and metallurgically homogeneous interface that resists harsh maritime salt environments, chemical exposure, and pitting corrosion. They ensure Freeman's patented quick-acting dogging mechanism compresses the gasket with uncompromising planar accuracy in heavy weather. Available in both compression and knife-edge sealing configurations across the complete dimensional range.
If you already have a complete Freeman hatch assembly and plan to relocate it to a new deck opening during a yacht refit, we strongly advise ordering a new factory stainless steel deck ring rather than attempting to cut out the existing coaming. Cutting or gouging out a fully welded stainless ring and grinding the flange free of old weld metal is extremely labor-intensive. Furthermore, austenitic stainless steel exhibits a high coefficient of thermal expansion and low thermal conductivity, meaning localized heat input from cutting tools introduces severe risk of thermal distortion (warpage). A warped coaming permanently destroys planar alignment, causing the cover gasket to leak. A brand-new stainless coaming saves costly yard labor while guaranteeing an immediate, reliable watertight seal.
