HYDROX BIO 220 is intended for emergency use to reduce oil leakage past a damaged or worn sterntube seal. The product forms a stable, high-viscosity emulsion upon water ingress and typically reduces leakage by up to 70%. HYDROX BIO 220 is the biodegradable counterpart to Vickers’ established emergency product, HYDROX 21.
Applications
• Emergency assistance to reduce oil leakage past a damaged or worn sterntube seal.
• Top-up/refill of propeller shaft systems in the event of an emergency leak.
• Stabilizer bearings and CPP hubs (short-term use).

• Environmentally Adapted Lubricant (EAL) in accordance with the ecological definitions and requirements of the US EPA 2013 Vessel General Permit (VGP).
• Tested by classification societies, stability, lubricity, and corrosion protection verified by Lloyd’s Register (both pure oil and emulsion, including 20% water contamination).
• SKF Water Emcor test: Approved.
• Ecotoxicity: Fish LC50 >1000 mg/l, Daphnia EC50 >1000 mg/l, Algae EC50 >1000 mg/l.
• Shelf life: 3 years in original, unopened Vickers containers when stored away from direct sunlight.
• Approved for emergency and intended for short-term use only.
