The Daniamant SL-450 is a low-profile development of the SL-400, designed for external installation on motorised survival craft where clearance above the craft is limited. The flashing LED light connects to an external 10–30 V DC supply and combines very low current consumption with enhanced reliability. It provides a minimum light output of 4.3 cd, flashes 50–70 times per minute and has a minimum operating duration of 12 hours.
The SL-450 is supplied with four metres of cable, which can be shortened to suit the installation. Its housing is made from yellow ABS, nominal weight is 0.294 kg, and both operating and storage temperature range from −52 to +65 °C. The product complies with SOLAS Chapter III requirements for life-saving appliances and has been tested for Polar Code use down to −52 °C.
Install the light on a flat surface using stainless-steel screws to help prevent water ingress, and observe the correct polarity when connecting the cable. Annual inspection is required.
