    Description

    Article no.: BVO-15392

BIOGEAR XP 320 is a biodegradable, high-performance EP gear oil (ISO VG 320) with excellent anti-wear and micropitting performance, based on fully saturated synthetic esters with a high renewable content. The oil provides superior anti-wear, EP and oxidation protection even under severe conditions and exceeds the requirements of DIN 51517 Part 3. It is designed for sensitive environments where there is a risk of accidental oil leakage, such as from thrusters, certain CPP designs and deck equipment. BIOGEAR XP is miscible with conventional mineral-based gear oils, but old oil should be fully drained to avoid additive incompatibility and ensure full performance. The oil does not emulsify in water, water content should not exceed 0.1% and free water should be separated regularly. The product meets the requirements of the US EPA 2013 Vessel General Permit (VGP) as an Environmentally Acceptable Lubricant (EAL). Applications: Thrusters and bow thrusters, certain CPP designs, deck equipment, enclosed gearboxes, planetary gears, bearings and circulation systems. Key benefits: Superior anti-wear, EP and oxidation protection even under severe conditions, excellent resistance to micropitting, exceeds the requirements of DIN 51517 Part 3, superior thermal and oxidative stability, extended oil life with fewer oil changes, good hydrolytic stability, excellent water separation, broad operating temperatures (-25 °C to above +100 °C), good elastomer compatibility (NBR, HNBR, FKM, PTFE, PU), biodegradable with low toxicity, miscible with conventional mineral-based gear oils. Technical specifications: ISO VG 320 (viscosity grade), base oil: fully saturated synthetic esters with a high renewable content, non-emulsifying (separates free water), water content should not exceed 0.1% and free water should be separated regularly, operating temperature -25 °C to above +100 °C, FZG scuffing protection > load stage 14, micropitting: approved in all 5 endurance stages, FE8: approved, ASTM D130 copper corrosion: approved, ASTM D665 rust (fresh and seawater): approved, elastomer compatibility: NBR, HNBR, FKM, PTFE, PU80, PU90 approved. Standards and tests: DIN 51517-3 (2018) – approved (exceeds requirements), ISO 12925-1 – approved, ANSI/AGMA 9005-F16 – approved, VGP EAL according to US EPA 2013, FZG > load stage 14, micropitting 5 stages approved, FE8 approved, ASTM D130 approved, ASTM D665 approved. Environmental profile and approvals: Environmentally Acceptable Lubricant (EAL) according to the US EPA 2013 Vessel General Permit (VGP), biodegradable (>60% in a 28-day OECD 301B test), assessed as non-toxic in the marine environment (Fish LC50 >100 mg/l, Daphnia EC50 >100 mg/l, Algae EC50 >100 mg/l), based on fully saturated synthetic esters with a high renewable content and EU Ecolabel-labelled.
