    Description

    Article no.: BVO-10220

HYDROX BIO 220 is intended for emergency use to reduce oil leakage past a damaged or worn sterntube seal. The product forms a stable, high-viscosity emulsion upon water ingress and typically reduces leakage by up to 70%. HYDROX BIO 220 is the biodegradable counterpart to Vickers’ established emergency product, HYDROX 21. Applications • Emergency assistance to reduce oil leakage past a damaged or worn sterntube seal. • Top-up/refill of propeller shaft systems in the event of an emergency leak. • Stabilizer bearings and CPP hubs (short-term use). Benefits • Verified lubrication even at high water content. • Protects bearings against corrosion. • Excellent wear protection. • Emulsifies intruding seawater or freshwater into a stable emulsion, reducing the risk of free water and maintaining lubrication. • Compatible with commonly used metals. • Biodegradable (>,60% in 28-day OECD 301B and OECD 306 tests) and assessed as non-toxic in the marine environment. • Approved by leading OEM manufacturers such as KEMEL, SKF Marine, Wärtsilä, and others. Technical Specifications Typical viscosity (cSt @40°C): 220 Viscosity Index (VI): 200 Density (kg/l @15°C): 0.93 Pour point (°C): < −24 (IP15) Anti-corrosion, SKF Water Emcor: Approved Emulsifiable: Yes VGP-approved: Yes Base oil: Synthetic esters Environmental profile and approvals • Environmentally Adapted Lubricant (EAL) in accordance with the ecological definitions and requirements of the US EPA 2013 Vessel General Permit (VGP). • Tested by classification societies, stability, lubricity, and corrosion protection verified by Lloyd’s Register (both pure oil and emulsion, including 20% water contamination). • SKF Water Emcor test: Approved. • Ecotoxicity: Fish LC50 >1000 mg/l, Daphnia EC50 >1000 mg/l, Algae EC50 >1000 mg/l. • Shelf life: 3 years in original, unopened Vickers containers when stored away from direct sunlight. • Approved for emergency and intended for short-term use only.
