HYDROX BIO 220 is intended for emergency use to reduce oil leakage past a damaged or worn sterntube seal. The product forms a stable, high-viscosity emulsion upon water ingress and typically reduces leakage by up to 70%. HYDROX BIO 220 is the biodegradable counterpart to Vickers’ established emergency product, HYDROX 21.
Applications
• Emergency assistance to reduce oil leakage past a damaged or worn sterntube seal.
• Top-up/refill of propeller shaft systems in the event of an emergency leak.
• Stabilizer bearings and CPP hubs (short-term use).
Benefits
• Verified lubrication even at high water content.
• Protects bearings against corrosion.
• Excellent wear protection.
• Emulsifies intruding seawater or freshwater into a stable emulsion, reducing the risk of free water and maintaining lubrication.
• Compatible with commonly used metals.
• Biodegradable (>,60% in 28-day OECD 301B and OECD 306 tests) and assessed as non-toxic in the marine environment.
• Approved by leading OEM manufacturers such as KEMEL, SKF Marine, Wärtsilä, and others.
